FAQs

What is Zcon?

Zcon is the Zcash Foundation’s annual conference focused on Zcash and privacy-preserving technologies. It brings together developers, researchers, policy thinkers, builders, and community members from around the world to collaborate, learn, and shape the future of financial privacy.

What is the theme for Zcon7?

The theme for Zcon7 is ¡Vamos!—Spanish for “Let’s go!” More than a slogan, ¡Vamos! is a call to action for momentum, urgency, and collective progress across the Zcash ecosystem. It represents a shift toward removing friction, accelerating development, strengthening coordination, and turning ambitious ideas into real-world impact—together and at full speed.

When and where is Zcon7?

Zcon7 will take place Tuesday, October 27 – Thursday, 29, 2026, in Cancún, Mexico.  If accepted, your acceptance email will include an exclusive group reservation link for the all-inclusive resort. You must use this specific link. Per resort regulations, guests who book directly with the hotel or through third-party vendors will not receive a conference wristband and will be unable to participate in the conference or any associated events.

Venue confidentiality: For the safety of speakers and attendees, we are not publicly disclosing the resort name or precise location. We ask that community members exercise discretion when sharing these details. Accepted attendees will receive all relevant information directly.

This year’s conference will be fully in-person, with no livestream component. Hosting the event in person allows for more interactive sessions, deeper real-time discussions, and stronger opportunities for hands-on collaboration, and we encourage our community podcasters to share highlights with the greater community throughout the event.

How do I apply to attend Zcon7, and what are the costs?

The Zcon7 Application Form is now available! There is absolutely no cost for the conference ticket. We want Zcon to remain accessible to everyone in the community, and not charging a ticket fee is central to that commitment. Please keep in mind that submitting the form is an application to attend, rather than a confirmed registration. Because event capacity is limited, ZF will begin reviewing applications in July, so we ask that you hold off on booking any flights until you receive an official acceptance email.

To secure your spot:

  • Submit your application — Fill out the Zcon7 application form. The conference ticket is completely free, but please note that submitting the form is an application to attend, not a confirmed registration.
  • Wait for ZF's review — Because event capacity is limited, ZF will begin reviewing applications in July. Please hold off on booking any flights until you receive an official acceptance email.
  • Book your room through the official ZF link — If accepted, your acceptance email will include an exclusive group reservation link for the all-inclusive resort. You must use this specific link. Per resort regulations, guests who book directly with the hotel or through third-party vendors will not receive a conference wristband and will be unable to participate in the conference or any associated events.
  • Plan your stay — Accepted attendees are responsible for their own accommodation costs and are required to stay at the Zcon7 venue resort. Room rates are $312.88 USD/night for single occupancy and $357.62 USD/night for double occupancy. We recommend a four-night stay from October 26th through October 30th. The resort offers two childcare options: The Kids Club and individualized babysitting services. View details including hours, fees, ages and requirements here.

Follow us on X, Bluesky, or the Zcash forum for program announcements.

Will scholarships be available?

Yes! We are proud to support the community by offering scholarships to help make Zcon7 accessible to community members whose contributions are vital to the Zcash ecosystem and who require financial assistance to attend. We evaluated applications submitted in May and June based on both financial need and the value an individual would bring to discussions and collaboration at Zcon7. Priority was given to individuals who are actively engaged in the Zcash community.

The deadline to apply for a scholarship has now passed so we are no longer accepting additional applications.

Is there a group hotel rate for attendees?

Yes!

To attend the conference, participants MUST book their stay through our official group reservation link. If accepted, your acceptance email will include an exclusive group reservation link for the all-inclusive resort. Due to resort regulations, guests who book directly through the hotel or a third-party vendor will not receive a conference wristband and will be unable to participate in conference events.

Cost per night (deluxe run of the house room at all-inclusive resort) Oct 26-29, 2026:

  • Single Occupancy: $312.88 USD; $1,251.52 USD total for 4 nights.
  • Double Occupancy: $357.62 USD; $1,430.48 USD total for 4 nights.

Is there a virtual option to attend?

No. Zcon7 will be an in-person-only event in Cancún, and there will be no livestream. Hosting the event in person allows for more interactive sessions, deeper real-time discussions, and stronger opportunities for hands-on collaboration, and we encourage our community podcasters to share highlights with the greater community throughout the event.

We are also committed to creating meaningful ways for the broader community to participate virtually through other events, such as Zcomm that took place on March 24, 2026.

When will the program be available?

ZF will begin announcing speakers and sessions closer to the event. As we did last year, the program will be created in cooperation with other ecosystem organizations to ensure a diverse, collaborative, and engaging lineup.

To learn about the kind of speakers and session topics Zcon7 might include, check out previous ZconVI presentations.

How do I apply to speak at Zcon7?

Due to limited speaking slots, speakers are invite-only this year. We’re excited to share the final program lineup closer to the event and are working to build a diverse, collaborative, engaging, and interactive set of sessions from across the ecosystem.

What should I bring/pack?

We recommend bringing:

  • Laptop
  • Outlet converter/adaptor (not needed for most devices from North America)
  • Small bills or $1 USD bills for tipping
  • Waterproof shoes or flip-flops for the pool and beach
  • Sunglasses
  • Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, etc.)
  • Bug spray
  • Swimsuit
  • Light layers or a sweater in case meeting spaces are cool
  • Any medications or travel essentials you may need

Beach towels will be provided by the resort.

Late October in Cancún is typically warm and humid, with average daytime highs around 85°F / 29°C and nighttime lows around 75°F / 24°C.

If you are extending your stay, we also recommend bringing snorkeling gear and/or a waterproof camera.

The resort is environmentally conscious and provides purified water refill stations throughout the property. We will also be providing a tumbler as a swag item, so bringing your own water bottle is optional.

How can I stay informed about updates?

Updates will be shared on:

We encourage those interested in attending to check back frequently as more details become available. For Zcon-related questions, please email [email protected]
